The UK’s animation and visual effect industry is one of the highest barometers in the world. Big number of blockbuster movies, TV commercial and TV series have been created in the UK based post-production companies, such as Aardman Studio, Double Negative, The Mill, Moving Picture (MPC), and many more, ranging from animations like Shaun the Sheep, Lego the Movie, to real life action movies like Man of Steel, Ironman, to Maleficent, Godzilla and many more. This particular industry offers a huge range of exciting career opportunities for multi-skilled individuals with the motivation to succeed.
Staffordshire University and APIIT offer the right programmes for you who want to be involved in the industry of animation & visual effect. Whether you’d like to develop your knowledge, sense and skill in character animation or being a director of your future movie, you will experience the whole learning process from industry-experienced lecturers. You will also gain technical, creative, presentation and problem solving skill that are highly valued across a wide range of professions.
Through our programme, you will also learn how to create a mind blowing show reel of animation and VFX. Showing some “before and after” footage of visual effect is commonly used for CGI artist, while some short animation or real life action are also popular to be your show case.
Minimum CGPA of 2/4 or Pass in High School, Secondary School or A – level.
For Engineering - Physics, Chemistry and Maths compulsory in High School.
English:
Minimum TOEFL Score: 513 (Paper based), 65 (Internet based), 183 (Computer based)
Minimum IELTS Score: 5.5 (Academic)
Any other Certification or evidence of English proficiency that APU accepts as an equivalent to TOEFL and IELTS.

In case of disqualification from the above, student needs to take the APU English Placement Test, and depending on the result of the test, he/she may require to attend the APU Intensive English Programme (IEP) prior to beginning of the Foundation or Diploma programme.
During your time on the Animation programmes you are encouraged to form industry contacts through working on collaborative projects, live client-based briefs, attending and participating at film and animation festivals. Whilst on the programme you will be encouraged to produce work that is of a standard to be screened at international events allowing for exposure to the wider animation community and potential employers. The animation programmes are well represented at annual film and animation festivals and competitions, both national and international. Many Staffordshire University graduates in the UK have gone onto be employed by international studios, notably: Aardman Feature Animation, Mackinnon and Saunders, Cosgrove Hall Films, Chapman Entertainment Studios, Ragdoll Productions, Oktober Animation, Cinesite, Double Negative, Rushes Postproduction, ITV Studios and Cubic Motion. Others have gained work experience with Granada Studios, Barry Purves and other independent studios
