Community Development focuses on various theories, approaches and practices in the field of community development.
Admission Requirement:
- A recognised Master's degree in a related field
- An applicant with a Master degree or its equivalent
- A student who has submitted his Master's thesis for examination may apply for provisional admission.
Comprehensive Examination:
All doctoral candidates must take their Comprehensive Examination (CE) not later than fifth (5th) semester (candidates are only allowed to sit for CE after they passed Research Proposa
b) Credit Requirement:
All postgraduate candidates must take Research Methodology or any Research Method course (in compulsory, elective or audit status), one (1) credit hour Seminar (Research Proposal) (SPS6903) and the Doctoral Research
Thesis:
Doctoral candidates are required to register for Doctoral Research (SPS6999) as partial fulfillment of the programme. This is a research project that will be undertaken by candidates under the supervision of a supervisory committee that comprises of at least three (3) academic staffs.
All candidates are encouraged to present their research proposals before embarking on their research especially those that involve field data collection.
The thesis will be examined and a viva voce will be held to determine students' competence in their chosen field of study.
