Master of Architecture is a 65 credit hours postgraduate programme by coursework. It is a professional degree programme equivalent to the professional qualification of the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) Part II. The programme is a continuation of the LAM Part I qualification, which is currently being addressed in the Bachelor of Science in Architecture programme at UPM.
Among the objectives of this programme is to produce architectural graduates who are holistic, competent and highly skilful in the field of architecture which will lead them to career opportunities in design, project management, research, academia and related construction industries. Architectural graduates of the Master of Architecture at UPM will be on the right track to become a registered Professional Architect with the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM).
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Candidates with Bachelor Degree Design (Architecture) or the Bachelor of Science in Architecture that is equivalent to the qualification accredited LAM Part 1 or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 from a local or foreign university recognized by the Government of Malaysia and the University Senate. Candidates should also:
- Pass the Architectural Design Studio course or equivalent to an average of at least Grade B
- Have at least six (6) months of working experience in architecture, and
- Passed the entrance interview.
OR
Candidates with CGPA of less than 2.75 shall:
- At least pass the Architectural Design Studio course or equivalent,
- Have at least one (1) year working experience in architecture, and
- Passed the entrance interview.
ENGLISH REQUIREMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
If you are non-native English speaker, you must achieve one of the formal qualifications as part of the entry requirements: 1. IELTS - 1. Minimum overall score of 6.0 for TESL/English or 5.5 for other programmes; or
2. TOEFL - Minimum overall score of 550 for TESL/English or 500 for other programmes; or
3. Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP) - Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP) - enrolled at ELS-UPM - Level 109 English or Level 107 for other pro
