The Master of Information Technology aims to provide graduates with the advanced knowledge and ability to carry out research and development in fields related to information technology. For example, computer technology, networking, mechanical and manufacturing, automotive, e-commerce and joining, and information technology are specialization related to information technology. Entrepreneurship elements are also embodied to this programme.
Programme Objectives
This is one of the few programmes worldwide that addresses the need for Master level professionals with a comprehensive and well-grounded knowledge in the field of information technology.
Graduates of this study programme are able to plan computer plants as well as to assess existing ones. They are competent contact persons for all aspects of computers and provide the necessary expertise for inspection or maintenance work, development and application tasks as well as to specify their necessity.
As such, the programme is also attractive to professionals from both the government sector and the IT industry, particularly from developing and transitional countries.PEO 1 : Knowledge impartation
Provide students with advanced knowledge in engineering analysis, design, research and able to contribute effectively within their working environment.
PEO 2 : Technology Research and Development
Develop the skills pertinent to the research process, including students’ ability to synthesize and integrate information, work collaboratively, communicate effectively and to publish the results of their research.
PEO 3 : Self-Promotion
Provide students with the ability for lifelong learning and possess the ability to communicate effectively for scholarly contributions in enhancing technical knowledge.
PEO 4 : Creative and Innovative
Encourage creativity and innovative thinking in designs and products to meet specified needs in mechanical engineering technology within the constraints of economy, environmental, social, health and safety, manufacturability and sustainability.
PEO 5 : Leadership
Develop the ability to accomplish professional ethics and responsibilities, able to communicate and function effectively on multi-disciplinary teams involving people from diverse backgrounds and affiliations, local and global alike.
PEO 6 : Global and Professional Service
Strengthen the ability to work independently to solve open-ended problems in mechanical engineering technology, absorb domestic and international knowledge in order to develop new products that will promote sustainable economic development to meet the global demands and dynamics.
Academic Requirement for admission in UNIKL University Malaysia
Diploma & Bachelor Programs
- Candidates in High school, secondary or A-level must hold min. CGPA of 2 out of 4 or must be passed.
- For studying engineering pass marks in Math, Chemistry and physics in high school.
Master Programs
- Bachelor's degree with min. CGPA of 2.75 out of 4 or equivalent in a relevant field of study.
- Any Bachelor's degree with CGPA of 2 to 2.5 out of 4 in a relevant field can be accepted subject to a minimum 2 years of working experience in a related field.
PhD programs
- A Master's degree with min. CGPA of 2.75 out of 4 or equivalent in a relevant field of study.
- Any Master's degree with minimum CGPA of 2 to 2.5 out of 4 in a relevant field can be accepted subject to a minimum 2 years of working experience in a related field.
English language requirement for admission in UniKL University Malaysia: It is mandatory for every international student to take English tests like TOFEL (Test of English as a Foreign Language or IELTS (International English language Testing System) with the minimum required score for respective programs.

Also, if by any chance you don't have the above qualifications in English, you can take the UniKL English placement test in Malaysia. You have to get passed in the test for getting admission to the English programs but in case you can't make it the you will be required to study a compulsory English course at UniKL.
