The Bachelor of Consumer Studies programme is founded on the philosophy underlying the creation of a consumer society that is well-informed, responsible, ethical and proactive, for the purpose of enhancing fairness in marketing practices and supporting sustainable development for improving the quality of life. The field of Consumer Studies integrates various disciplines in pure and applied sciences such as Economics and Consumer Behaviour, Management, Marketing, Science and Technology, Socio-psychology, Communication and Law. The programme equips students with knowledge and skills in aspects of consumerism so that they can become intermediaries between producers, consumers and policy makers.

Eligibility

Candidates must fullfill the University General Requirements and Specific Programme Requirements:

University General Requirements

Pass in the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM)/ its equivalent with a credit in Bahasa Melayu/ Bahasa Malaysia or a credit in Bahasa Melayu/ Bahasa Malaysia July Paper; and

STPM Minimum Qualification

  • Pass in the STPM Examination with at least: CGPA 2.00 and at least grade C (GP 2.00) in General Studies; and grade C (GP 2.00) in two other subjects; or

Matriculation/Foundation Minimum Qualification

  • Pass in the Matriculation/ Foundation Examination with at least CGPA 2.00; or

Diploma or its equivalent

  • Diploma in appropriate field or other qualification which is approved by the UPM Senate; and

At least Band 1 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

Specific Programme Requirements

STPM Minimum Qualification

  • A minimum of Grade C (GP 2.00) in two of the following subjects at STPM level: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (M)/ Mathematics (T), Economics, Accounting, Geography, History, Business Studies, Usuluddin, Syariah, Sport Science, Information and Communication Technology (ICT); or

Matriculation/Foundation Minimum Qualification

  • A minimum of Grade C (2.00) in two of the following subjects at Matriculation/ Foundation level: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, Business Management; or

Diploma Minimum Qualification

  • A Diploma in a relevant field or any other qualification recognised by the UPM Senate; and

Pass in one of the following subjects at SPM level with at least grade E/ 8E: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Science; and

Pass in the following subjects at SPM level with at least grade E/ 8E: Mathematics/ Additional Mathematics.
